Claressa aka The GWOAT, joins the REVEL platform for an exclusive three part series to discuss her journey over the past decade to becoming arguably the greatest woman boxer of all time. In her historic career, she has only suffered one loss and it was as an amateur back in 2012. She will look to erase it, with her highly anticipated upcoming rematch. We will follow Claressa as she prepares for her big fight and give fans an inside look to her training, and how she mentally prepares for these big moments.

Get to Know Claressa Shields

Claressa Shields is a professional boxer and mixed martial artist. She was introduced to the sport of boxing as a child through her father, who told her stories of boxing legend Laila Ali. Claressa began her boxing career at 11 years old under the guidance of Jason Crutchfield. She recalls her grandmother always telling her, “Whatever you do, don’t stop boxing.” Grandma Adams knew that the sport could take her far in life and Claressa proved her right.

Claressa’s boxing achievements show that she truly is the GWOAT. Claressa won two Junior Olympic championships and qualified to the 2012 Olympic Trials at just 17 years old. She went on to become a member of Team USA for the 2012 Olympics, where she became the first American boxer to win an Olympic gold medal. Four years later she earned her second Olympic gold in Brazil, making her the first American boxer to win two consecutive Olympic gold medals.

Claressa is very passionate about supporting her hometown of Flint, Michigan and female athletes. She wears blue in her hair to help raise awareness for the Flint water crisis and often advocates for equal pay and opportunities for women in sports.

Claressa’s hard work and dedication to her sport does not go unnoticed by her friends, family, opponents, and coaches. “She’s elite, a very hardworking world champion that will do what’s necessary to remain on top,” said her coach, Gerald Tucker.

Know Before You Go

REVEL Moments are #humanfirst.

All of our events focus on the human behind the athlete and bring to life untold stories, insights, and lessons learned that can inspire, educate, or uplift everyone.

A typical REVEL Moment lasts between 45 – 60 minutes, so be sure to make the most of it and show up 10 mins before to see the pre-show.

Pro Tip: There are sometimes clues to prizes in the pre-show!

What To Expect

We want REVEL Moments events to be fun, intimate, and empathetic — leaving you with moments of elevation, pride, and insight about your host and their path in life. To do this we want you to be part of the event so get ready:
  • To be on screen (as the audience will be visible)!
  • Submit a question in advance of the event as you may get a chance to join us on stage and ask the question live.
  • If so moved (+ over 21 years old!) grab an adult beverage and sit back to enjoy the athlete joining you in the room.

How many other people will be there?

While the number of attendees varies per event, we always limit the event’s capacity to keep it intimate. We want you, the fans, to make a connection that can’t be made anywhere else and learn from an athlete’s life story.

Can I ask a question or provide input?

Yes! REVEL Moments are a two-way conversation between you and the athlete, which means your participation can only improve the experience for everyone. When you purchase a ticket, you’ll be asked to submit a question so you can let us know what you’d like to know about the athlete. We review everyone response and incorporate them into the events’s content and select certain fans to ask their questions live during the event.
